The U.S. "Risk Management" magazine, one of the most prestigious magazines of United States of America; and its blog "www.riskmanagementmonitor.com" showed Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen International Airport as one of the safest five places on Earth.

The only Turkish safe building listed in the magazine is İstanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport terminal building, shown as it features the world’s largest seismically- isolated building. Stretching across more than 2 million square feet, on more than 300 isolators, bearings that can move side-to-side during an earthquake. The whole building moves as a single unit, which prevents damage from uneven forces acting on the structure," the magazine said.
The magazine said, "given that a massive, 7.4-magnitude temblor struck Turkey in 1999, Sabiha Gökçen International Airport seems like a great development in a city that geologists expect to see another major quake within the next few decades."

Passenger Friendly Sabiha Gökçen Airport continues to offer new services to make life easier for guests.
As of December 1, 2010, 4 and 7 day long term parking subscription fees are reduced. You can use 4 day and 7 day car park service for 55 and 90 TL respectively. Please note to remember that carpark fee subscriptions has to be made before flight departure at payment points.
 

Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen celebrated its 10th million passenger in 2010

With 85% passenger traffic growth in 2010, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport celebrated its 10th million passenger on the 26th of November, 2010. In 2009, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen’s annual passenger traffic was 6.6 million.
Till the end of 2010, Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen expects to host 11.6 million passengers.
 

Mahan Air to launch Tehran flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen

Privately owned Tehran based airline, Mahan Air is going to launch flights to Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen as of 6th of December, 2010 with 212 seat capacity Airbus A310. Mahan Air will be flying to Tehran on Mondays and Tuesdays.
