Bosphorus Rally first time in its history will start from an airport...
This year being the 40th year of the Boshphorus Rally, the 4th round of European Rally Championship will start from Sabiha Gokcen Airport on 3rd of June.
Sabiha Gökçen Airport ISG Airport Hotel is the official accomodation sponsor and will be serving as the rally headquarters. The hotel will accommodate the rally pilots, the teams and the rally enthusiasts.
Turkey´s oldest international motorsports event which has 39 years of history, will take place between 03-05 June 2011 in Istanbul. Route of the Bosphorus Rally will once again be consisting of smooth & fast gravel roads of Istanbul´s Asian side and its neighbour city Kocaeli.
2011 event, which is celebrating its 40th year, will be counting for European Rally Championship and Turkish Rally & Historic Rally Championships. However, this time, the base of the rally will be different. Whereas recently opened International Sabiha Gokcen Airport Hotel will welcome ERC community, the service park will also be in inside of the airport.
The Organising Committee is planning to start the event on Friday in the airport. Following Friday´s short loop of 4 stages, on Saturday and Sunday, drivers will head to demanding, fast and smooth surfaced gravel stages of both Istanbul and Kocaeli to challenge for the victory.
Most of the 2010 route will be unchanged, as we received very good comments in previous years concerning the smooth gravel and character of the stages. Drivers will compete on 16 special stages of both Istanbul and Kocaeli during two days. Some of the stages will be same as WRC Rally of Turkey event of 2010.
The entry list of 40th Bosphorus Rally, which will take place between 3 to 5 June 2011, was published by the organisers. The entry list include 55 cars, 12 of which is foreign crews. Nine registered ERC drivers will compete in the rally, which will also withness nine S2000 cars.
