Qualified to run for the ‘European Steel Design Awards 2011’, which is organized biyearly by the European Convention for Constructional Steelwork (ECCS), Sabiha Gökçen Airport was granted ‘European Steel Design Award’ as the result of the jury evaluation in May in Düsseldorf.

The terminal building, of which architectural project and process control services are carried on by Tekeli-Sisa Architecture, last year was featured as the world’s largest seismically isolated by Risk Management’, USA’s the most prestigious business and risk management analysis magazine.
 

Bosphorus Rally took start from Sabiha Gökçen Airport

European Rally Championships 4th round Bosphorus Rally, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, took start from Sabiha Gökçen Airport on 3rd of June.
Sabiha Gökçen Airport ISG Airport Hotel sponsored the event which took place between 3-5 June and also served as the rally headquarters and provided accommodation. ISG Airport hotel hosted sporters, teams and racing fans during the event.
Castrol Ford Team’s Turkiye’s Yagız Avcı won the Boshphorus Rally which took start from Sabiha Gökçen Airport on 3 June Friday.

Petra Airlines launched Amman flights from Sabiha Gökçen…
Jordan based airline company Petra Airlines, launched its first flight from Sabiha Gökçen Airport to Jordan’s capital city Amman on 10 June 2011.
Named after Petra the ancient city considered as world’s 8th wonder, Petra Airlines is operating to Amman from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport with 165 seat capacity Airbus A320.

SunExpress offers international passengers a new service, pre-ordered special meals

Sun Express operating from Sabiha Gökçen Airport to various domestic and international destinations started a new service at international flights on 8 June 2011. In addition to offering international passengers delicious and practical snacks, SunExpress is now serving pre-ordered special meals.
You can order your meals with the introduction price of €12 from www.sunexpress.com website. This special menus prepared by LSG Sky Chefs, brand name of Lufthansa, has to be pre-ordered online at least 72 hours before flight.
