With a total 500 million Euro investment, Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport’s new terminal building and its complementaries were put into service at October 31st, 2010. With the participation of Mr. Binali Yıldırım Minister of Transport and Mr. Vecdi Gönül Minister of Defence, the key role of Sabiha Gokcen Airport has been discussed in the symposium.

ISG CEO Gökhan Bugday gave a presentation, and talked about ISG’s present situation and future goal’s at the “Increasing Demand to Air Transportation in Istanbul and in the Region, The Key Role of Sabiha Gökçen Airport in this New Environment” symposium.
 

Wizz Air launched Budapest flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen

The biggest low cost airline of Central and Eastern Europe, Wizz Air has launched flights to Budapest from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport as of 17th of December,2010 with 180 seat capacity Airbus A-320. Wizzair has flights to Budapest 4 times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Sabiha Gökçen Airport wins Popular Science award

Sabiha Gökçen International Airport has been recognised in the Engineering category of Popular Science magazine’s 2010 Best of What’s New Awards. The largest earthquake-ready structure in the world Sabiha Gökçen has been honoured second place after Burj Khalifa.
SGIA, opened in October 2009, proved a natural contender for an Engineering award as it features the largest seismically-isolated building in the world, designed and constructed at record speed of 18 months. The building’s resilience comes from 300 rubber-and-steel springs called seismic isolators, typically 12 to 60 inches long, that allow for horizontal movement in the layer between ground and building.
 

Ten millionth passenger to Barcelona trip!

World’s fastest growing airport Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen’s ten millionth passenger who was honoured with free ticket complimentary of Spanair went to Barselona trip.
With a 81% passenger growth between January - November of 2010 compared to the same period of 2009, Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport welcomed its ten millionth passenger to travel from the airport in November and is expecting 11.6 million passengers to travel from the airport till the end of 2010.
 

Cities Exhibition opened at Sabiha Gokcen Airport

ISG Cities exhibition can be visited at Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport, where monthly approximately 1 million people are travelling through, during all December. The aim of the exhibition is to make known of the tourism heaven Turkey’s historical and cultural values to all the guests visiting. Cities Exhibiton will be featuring cities’ historical places, local values, cultural references and will be displaying local examples from the cities hosted.
 

Sabiha Gokcen Airport Setur Duty Free Winner, received his car key

The lucky winner of the prizedraw organized by Setur between the dates of 15 July – 15 October at Sabiha Gokcen Setur Duty Free Shops where Turkish citizens of legal age (18) who spend 50 Euro or over entered the 2010 model Ford Fiesta Trend prizedraw, Berfu Kamal received her car key. Setur General Manager Üstün Özbey and Ford Otosan General Manager Nuri Otay attended the key handing ceremony.
Other than the usual duty free shopping items, such as local/foreign drinks, tobacco and cosmetics; especially ready-wear, textiles accessories and electronics is offered for sale at Sabiha Gokcen Setur Duty Free Shops located at both international arrivals and departure levels.
